Brief
Paudie Larkin is a folk rock musician from Ireland, and a dear friend of mine. He approached me with a phone recording of an acoustic song he had written, and asked if I could just lay down some piano chords over it. When I listened the song I immediately heard its full potential. This track doesn't deserve to be just a phone recordning.
Results
I took creative direction and gave this song all the love and attention it deserved to turn it into a true rock song – with heavy influences from genres like folk rock, rock ballad and brit pop rock. All while still staying true to the irish roots.
I mixed both acoustic elements and distorted electric guitar solos to create a powerful dynamic throughout the song. Paudie was invited into my home studio to make a professional recording of his lyrics and I supported with background vocals to add a wider, more dynamic sound in the chorus.
The song has been well received, both locally in Ireland, and by other professional musicians. Link to Spotify below!
